Charles Harris

"Cases are won and lost based on how well you know your facts, the law that applies to your facts, and your overall preparation. I examine every case personally, get to know my clients and take a personal interest in the outcome. But cases aren't won just on knowledge of the facts and the law; experience and understanding of human nature counts for a lot.

My experience includes six years of working in the trenches as a paralegal and law clerk for large Washington D. C. law firms while attending law school plus twenty five years of legal practice in the Connecticut state and federal district courts. I work every day, one on one with individuals and small businesses to solve their legal and business problems. Each client receives my personal attention and commitment as we work together toward a favorable resolution of the legal issues."

Having practiced for more than twenty-five years, Charles particularly enjoys handling personal injury, workers' compensation and family litigation matters. He understands the particular strengths and interests of his co-workers and enjoys working collaboratively with them to bring about the best results possible. Charles enjoys thinking creatively and outside the box, and works to maximize financial recoveries for seriously injured individuals. He rises to complicated and difficult challenges, and believes in the effectiveness of our civil justice system.

Charles attended Hampshire College of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Columbia University in NYC, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984 from Hampshire College. He earned his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1990. During his tenure at the Washington College of Law, he worked as a clerk and legal assistant with several large law firms in Washington, D.C., including Hogan Hartson, Baker Botts and Andrews and Kurth.

Charles moved back to Connecticut in 1991 and has been actively practicing law ever since. He is currently a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Connecticut Bar Association.

He regularly appears in all Connecticut state and federal courts and his knowledge of the law is bolstered by his additional interest and practice in the areas of real estate, workers' compensation, and estate planning and administration. Charles has a quick intelligence, affable personality and easy going demeanor. He is a good listener, is easy to work with and enjoys a challenge.

Charles is an eight time former member of the United States Canoe and Kayak Team, having competed in many World Championships, European Cup and Pan American Competitions in the two-man canoe whitewater slalom event.
